ISERT team met with the Hon. Commissioner who was briefed on the contents of ISERT I and II. Copies of ISERT documents were presented to him. The Hon. Commissioner thanked the team and welcomed them to the Ministry. He said, “It is interesting to have the report on Family Life and HIV/AIDS Education.
All invited participants in the North West geopolitical zone participated in the training workshop on the State of Implementation of the Family Life and HIV/AIDS Education (FLHE) Curricula in Nigeria. Participants were acquainted with the ISERT goals and objectives including the rationale for the workshop.
The ISERT team was received by the SHEP president. During the interaction, he mentioned that Sokoto State has a functional school health programme and that the presence of ISERT is an added advantage to the State. He gave the team some of the materials they developed specifically for the State while ISERT also presented theirs.
The Permanent Secretary was briefed on ISERT I and the current project. He thanked the team and stated that the project is a laudable one. He assured the team of their willingness to support the project in any way they are able to. With the Permanent Secretary were: Abubakar M. A.
The ISERT hosted a national dissemination workshop and stakeholder engagement on the state of implementation of the FLHE curricula in Nigeria on 22nd March 2017. This was done in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education. Compered by Dr.
Relevant stakeholders from all the States in the South East and South South geopolitical zones were trained on effective FLHE implantation in Nigeria. While in the zone, the team paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Paul University Awka who is also the ISERT coordinator.
The Honourable Speaker received the ISERT team to the State House of Assembly. He was acquainted with the ISERT project and the findings of the national evaluation research. The documents produced by the team were presented to him. He went through them and made some salient observations that reflected the findings.
The ISERT team paid a courtesy visit to the Registrar of National Examination Council (NECO) at the headquarters. He was acquainted with the ISERT past and current activities as well as the training workshops. The Registrar commended ISERT passion for FLHE.
